Millennium Excellence Award Program
The Canadian Millennium Scholarship Foundation established the Millennium Excellence award Program in 2003. This new National in-course awards program was designed to celebrate the outstanding achievements of undergraduate students and the contributions they make to their communities.
Humber has designated to nominate 15 potential winners. We had ten award winners at Humber in 2003 but hope to meet the fifteen total this year. Up to 1,200 national in course awards will be granted across Canada, ranging in value from $4,000 to $10,000.
The Financial Aid office will administer this program for Humber, but we are asking for your assistance to identify qualified students. Applicants must meet the following criteria:
• Canadian citizenship or landed immigrant status
• By the end of the 2003-04 academic year, must have completed either the first year of a program leading to a first diploma OR the second year of a current program leading to a bachelor degree (full-time – 80% of full course load).
• No previous degree, diploma or certificate in the past five years.
• Cumulative post-secondary school GPA of at least 77% or B+ and demonstrated exceptional merit without regard to financial need.
• Active and significant involvement toward the betterment of the community, leadership and the ability to motivate others, and an interest in innovation.
• Not in receipt of a merit award valued above $5,000 over two years, no more than $3,500 in any one year to support post-secondary education.
• Submission of the completed application to the Financial Aid office by: Monday, May 30, 2005.
